Framing Lumber Prices Continue to Surge Amid Election Optimism and Interest Rate Cuts
For the sixth week in a row, Fastmarkets reports Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price gained, climbing to $441 from $11. That is its highest level since August 2023. Traders foresaw an economic boost and sought to secure loads at current prices. Truss plants in the Upper Midwest and Northeast substituted Southern Pine for Spruce to take advantage of the growing price difference between species; Southern Pine has been on the decline. Still, in the Coast region, mills reported that phones were ringing off the hook as sales activity soared.
