Biggest risk to economy is policy error, top forecasters say

The biggest unknown in today’s economy is politics. With the global economy finally pulling in the same direction and the U.S. economy on course for more steady but unspectacular growth, the major risk is a policy error, said the two men who shared the Forecaster of the Month award for September. “This is the calm before the potential storm,” said Ryan Sweet, director of real-time economics for Moody’s Analytics. “The geopolitical risks are on the rise.”
