Editor’s Note: September 2021

Dear Readers in print and online,

As summer comes to a close and we head straight into the cooler months of autumn, we hope our readers are continuing to stay safe. Still in the midst of the pandemic, and with the rapid rise of the delta variant, we must continue to protect ourselves and those around us as the holiday season quickly approaches.

With that being said, we welcome you to the September issue of Builder and Developer Magazine, a green-themed book. As September approaches, the housing market has continued to stay hot with home prices soaring, which has caused some implications in regards to inventor and a slow down in construction starts.

In the September issue, we delve into economics and market research with articles from Patrick Duffy of MetroIntelligence, as well as Greg Logan and Karl Pischke of RCLCO Real Estate Consultants.

Duffy’s column takes a closer look at the approval of the Pfizer vaccine and what that means for the housing market. He notes that a halt in the growth of the market could be beneficial, allowing supply chains to catch up to demand.

With recent polls showing increasing support for fully approved vaccines as well as mandates from employers and customer-facing government offices and businesses, once infections from the Delta variant of COVID-19 subside, the economic rebound should find a second wind,” Duffy said. “Another recurring topic this month is the importance of outdoor spaces.Paul Patirupananda, community designer for BSB Design, writes about the rising trend of outdoor amenities since the pandemic began that will only continue to rise.

Additionally, we are also featuring three powerhouse homebuilders in Toll Brothers, Lennar and KB Home. Toll Brothers continues to cement its place as a top builder in the nation, while Lennar can be mentioned in the same breath. KB Home continues to be a leader in the green building industry, as the builder most recently achieved its milestone of 11,000 solar powered homes delivered.

We are proud to have delivered over 11,000 solar homes, a milestone that reflects the company’s commitment to building energy-efficient homes,” said KB Home CEO Jeff Mezger.

We appreciate each and every one of our readers and hope you enjoy our September edition of Builder and Developer Magazine. We hope you are all continuing to stay safe as temperatures begin to dwindle down. As always, if you are a homebuilder or industry professional with any news you would like us to know more about, feel free to reach out to me at camille@builder.media.

Best,
