High School Construction Students Build Homes for Veterans
Trade school students from Decatur Central High School in Indianapolis helped secure roof trusses and bolt wood frame walls as part of the Project 57 development that aims to house homeless veterans. Kenny Owens, the lead teacher for Decatur’s construction program, said, “We’re doing this for homeless veterans.” Anthony Roberts, who developed the plot and the plan for Project 57, said, “It’s really impressive to see high school kids giving to the level they’re willing to give.” Project 57 homes are expected to be completed by Spring 2025.
