Housing Market Grows in Builder Confidence for 55+ Single-Family Housing

According to the National Association of Home Builders Housing Market Index, builder confidence has jumped 27 points in the second quarter for single-family 55+ housing.

The Housing Market index looks into both single-family homes and multifamily condominiums and surveys based builder confidence for future sales. The survey found that both multifamily condos and single-family home builders were feeling more confident.

“All three index subcomponents of the 55+ single-family HMI posted gains in the second quarter: present sales increased 24 points to 72, expected sales for the next six months surged 36 points to 70 and traffic of prospective buyers rose 28 points to 46,” according to a press release by Eye on Housing market.

The senior housing market has taken a massive hit due to the pandemic, so it is encouraging to see confidence jumping for this demographic. Another sign that the housing sector is continuing to shine as the economy’s bright spot.
