Forbes recognized homebuilder Meritage Homes for prominent growth in 2013 and is lining up to be even more successful. The housing market is beginning to make a turn for the better, and Meritage is one single-family developer that is not only building more homes, but purchasing high-demand land in areas coveted by potential buyers.
Texas Builder of the Year five times running, Meritage has planned an investment of $450 million for land and development this year alone. Specializing in energy efficient first-time, move-up, active adult, and luxury homes, slowing down isn’t on the menu for this big builder.
“We increased sales by ensuring that we had well-located land for new communities in highdemand areas, designing and introducing exciting new plans into most of our markets, successfully demonstrating the benefits of our industry-leading energy efficient homes, which enabled us to capitalize on the general resurgence in new home demand throughout the year,” said Steven Hilton, Chairman and CEO of Meritage Homes.
After receiving Energy Star Partner of the Year, Lifestory Research Most Trusted Builder in America, and the 2012 Project of the Year, Single-Family Production at the National Home Builders Association Green Building Awards, Meritage is going to continue to build houses that have the potential of saving homebuyers 80 percent on their utility bill.
“Meritage Homes understands that homeowners are looking for ways to save money on utility bills without sacrificing features, amenities or lifestyle. By building new homes with solar PV and water heating in one, we’re offering homes the way they can, and should, be built,” explained Meritage Homes vice president of marketing Eric Rosson.
With new land developments, homes, and communities in production this year, Meritage should expect to see more growth than 2012, which is becoming a relief due to the housing market crisis. With 75,000 homes built since 1985, Meritage will soon add thousands more.
“We finished 2012 with another quarter of strong growth in orders, as year-over-year sales remained brisk through the end of the year, lessening the typical seasonal slowdown we would expect for the fourth quarter,” Hilton said.
Meritage will expect further growth due to their intelligent land acquisitions and continued production of affordable, energy efficient homes for a broad spectrum of potential buyers. The housing market is slowly coming back to life, and Meritage, one of the top ten builders in America, will see the recovery in its entirety.
