New housing permits expected to rise throughout the year

Permits for new housing are on the rise and that’s expected to continue into 2017, according to the Home Builders Association of Southeastern Michigan. HBA tracks permits for 69 communities across Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair and Wayne counties. A total of 1,265 single-family and multi-family permits were issued across the four counties in the first quarter of the year, from January through March. That’s the highest three-month start for new housing permits in a decade, according to the association.
