The County Commission on Tuesday approved a special-use permit that a Larry Roberts-led company needs to hold equine events and other events on an equestrian center built on 478 acres south of Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club. The developer, called Generation III, plans to build four covered arenas, one uncovered arena, eight boarding stall barns (about 800 stalls) parking and related facilities south of U.S. 27, north of State Road 40 and west of Northwest 80th Avenue. It’s all part of an equestrian center that eventually will be partnered with a housing development. Commissioner Kathy Bryant raised an early warning flag about maintaining the current character of Northwest 100th Avenue. But at this point there is no plan to put traffic onto that rural road.
