Prices and Trends in the U.S. Framing Lumber Market
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) continually tracks the latest lumber prices and futures prices, and provides an overview of the behaviors within the U.S. framing lumber market. The information is sourced each week using the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite which is comprised using prices from the highest volume-producing regions of the U.S. and Canada.
In NAHB’s summary of the week-to-week lumber prices and plywood prices for the week ending May 31, 2024, it was found that:
- The Random Lengths framing lumber composite price rose 1.6% from the previous week.
- This was the fourth consecutive week of increases.
- The price of lumber futures fell 4.1% last week, but is up 2.2% for the past month.
- The structural panel composite price was up 0.2% from the previous week.
- OSB prices decreased 0.2%
- Western Fir plywood prices were flat
- Southern Yellow Pine plywood prices rose 0.1%
