State Program Offers Up To $40,000 Per Home To Create Affordable Housing

New York State has $26 million available statewide in 2018 to help create affordable housing opportunities, and applications to receive a piece of the pot are due February 16. The Affordable Home Ownership Development Program provides up to $40,000 per home to eligible municipalities, municipal housing authorities, and other not-for-profit and charitable organizations that develop affordable housing or assist income-eligible homeowners in funding necessary repairs, according to New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr.’s office.  Since 2011, the New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s Affordable Housing Corporation has awarded nearly $198 million to create or improve more than 10,400 homes.
