Building homes for nearly a century, Taylor Morrison operates in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, and Texas, building mid-to-upscale housing as well as first-time and mid-market homes.
Taylor Morrison’s focus is on single-family detached and attached homes and operates under two homebuilding brands: Taylor Morrison and Darling Homes. Darling Homes serves move-up and luxury homebuyers exclusively in the Houston and Dallas, Texas markets.
At the recent 2015 quarterly earnings announcement, Sheryl Palmer, CEO of Taylor Morrison said, “We are a business with a disciplined long term strategy that has proven successful. We are also nimble in nature in order to capitalize on market opportunities and mitigate market risk, while maintaining the integrity of our long term strategy.”
Most recently, that strategy has led the homebuilder to buy 33 lots in Los Gatos—a 3.3 acre development site that’s seen much of the town approval work already taken care of. The homes will all be single-family detached (a product type that is exceedingly rare these days given the dearth of available land) and range from 2,000 square feet to 2,200 square feet, with three and four bedrooms.
The Scottsdale, Arizona-based homebuilder utilizes several environmentally-friendly building and development practices in many of its homes and communities. Through recycling programs, Taylor Morrison limits or reuses building material waste on the majority of jobsites. Additionally, the Company also uses sustainable materials and develops homes that allow for maximized energy efficiency, as implemented with the Elem3nts program. The Elem3nts program provides homes with ecosensitive features, reducing waste and helping homeowners save money.
“As a company that has always maintained a strong commitment to the sustainability of the communities we build and service, our responsibility for the environment continues to be a priority for Taylor Morrison,” said Palmer. She continued, “Increasingly, homebuyers share this priority, and we are constantly looking for ways to distinguish ourselves and our products through a continued commitment to improving our environmental footprint while maintaining our competitive value proposition.”
In addition to implementing eco-friendly practices in to homebuilding method, Taylor Morrison is also dedicated to preserving and repurposing land. In 2013 Taylor Morrison dedicated or developed 3,253 acres of perpetual open space to communities that the company was working on. That would be the equivalent of approximately 52,000 tennis courts, 3,025 football fields or nearly 4 Central Parks.
Not only is Taylor Morrison dedicated to including sustainable features in their homes, the community efforts the company continues to be involved in makes them a true leader in the industry.
