Tiny houses: Construction begins on microcottage housing development for seniors

Construction has begun on Lakeland’s newest affordable-housing community for seniors. With ceremonial flair, community leaders extolled the attributes of the Micro-Cottages at Williamstown during a groundbreaking exercise Tuesday morning. “It’s a wonderful thing for the community; all (48) units will be handicap adaptable,” said Michael Pimentel, chairman of the Lakeland Housing Authority, which is developing the project with $6 million in federal public-housing funds.
